100 Themes Challenge

Everyone's heard of the One Hundred Themes Challenge by now, I'm sure. But if you haven't, here's a quick rundown:

The Origins of 100 Themes

The original "One Hundred Themes Challenge" was the Fanfic100, which expanded into several other communities (including Fanart100, Art_100 and OC_Art100). All four of these (and a few others) use the same prompt list — the original.

From there, the Hundred Themes Challenge expanded, other communities with differences or specifics picking up the same prompt list and running with it, while artists (both visual and literary) all over the internet started the challenge for fun, inspiration, or — as the title suggests — a challenge.

Other artists chose to make their own lists, and some came up with entirely their own challenges for this. A few good examples on the LiveJournal front include 30_Kisses and IconFiend100.

The CRASH came when AngieChild of deviantART came up with her own challenge list. Other artists on dA — again, from all walks and mediums of art — took up AngieChild's list to use for their own.

Soon, a club popped up on deviantART, keeping track of this prompt list's challengers in the same way that similar LJ communities kept track of their own challengers. 100ThemesChallenge also keeps a set of alternate lists, so those who want more than one challenge (or just a different challenge than the originals) have ample choice.

So what's the point of this? Why is this long-winded explanation stuffed into DAS's wiki?

Simple!

For one thing, I like to be educated. I also like passing my education onto others. I also like to give credit where credit is due; if I'm going to use a challenge list, I want to know where it came from. If someone wanted to use mine, I'd certainly love to know!

And for two, I like variety. I like choices. I figure other people probably do, too.

So, in this vein, I present to you the Theme Challenge Compilation. Here, I have collected as many different prompt lists as I can find, including links to their originators. I've even come up with my own! Feel free to browse through and, if one catches your eye, take up a challenge! I don't ask for any credit for providing most of these; I'm just tossing up lists and links, after all. I would ask that you credit the original creators of each list (linked to in the appropriate tabs) — and, in one case, this does mean crediting me. I like my list. :D

I will also be providing links to my own undertaken challenges where appropriate. I don't find it likely that I can finish ALL the challenge lists I'll find or come up with — goodness knows that would be an undertaking — but I'm going to make a run at it.
