What is a Graphite Piece?
Broad term for a broad spectrum of pieces. Anything done fully in pencil (other than sketches) fits in this category. Generally, I do all my graphite works with 0.7mm mechanical pencil. Occasionally I will use a #2 wooden pencil; I am also beginning to dabble in different hardnesses and solid-graphite sticks.
What Does a Graphite Commission Cost?
Graphite works in any style cost:
- $8 for messy.
- $10 for minimal.
- $15 for stylized.
- $20 for semi-realistic.
- $25-$35 for realistic (varies dependent on size and subject)).
Extra characters in a piece are $2 each for messy, minimal; $6 each for stylized; $8 each for semi-realistic; $8-$15 each for realistic.
If you would like me to mail you the original of a traditional piece, please add $2 S&H within the US and Canada and $5 worldwide. Price may increase for very large commissions.
Please see the Commission Contact page to order a graphite piece.
What Do DAS's Graphite Works Look Like?
Types and examples of graphite pieces include:
- Messy - Larger and more detailed than "messy" sketches, and much closer to finished works. By no means my best; these generally take very little time to complete.
- Minimal - Little or no shading; pencil works with more attention paid the subject than the shading. More carefully-done, detailed and finished than sketches.
- Stylized - Fully shaded graphite piece, though lacking the full detail of realism.
- Semi-realistic - Very detailed, softly shaded piece. Realistic in feel, though simplified in many places.
- Realistic - Fully detailed realism in graphite. Possibly my favorite type of all the works I do.
[Examples coming soon! Pending digital image capture of larger and/or school-assigned pieces.]
- Is there another graphite piece I've drawn that you think is different or special? Feel free to include a link to it when commissioning and tell me what you like about it! I'll try to emulate that in your commission!
- Is there another style of graphite piece that someone else has drawn that you'd like me to try for your commission? Let me know! I'll see what I can do.
