Sketch Commissions
What is a Sketch?
Basically, in terms of my art, a sketch is anything and everything before I start cleaning up for lineart. This can mean anything from scribbles and messy, messy junk to a fairly clean, well-proportioned form in pencil, in ink or in pale-colored digital lines. All it means for commissions is that I'm going to draw you something — but you aren't paying me to bother inking it.
What Does a Sketch Commission Cost?
Sketches in any style cost:
- $8 for a doodle.
- $10 for messy.
- $12 for a sketch-sheet.
- $14 for a pre-piece.
Extra characters in a piece are $5 each.
Sketches can be ordered in digital, pen-and-ink, or pencil.
If you would like me to mail you the original of a traditional piece, please add $2 S&H within the US and Canada and $5 worldwide.
Please see the Commission Contact page to order a sketch.
What Do DAS's Sketches Look Like?
Types and examples of Sketches include:
- Doodle - Fairly clean, if not the best-looking thing. Often chibis. I make no claims that these will be proportional or in any way my best work, but I do promise I won't give you crap.
- Messy - Medium-sized sketch; larger and more detailed than doodles, though still messy. Often, but not always, includes some messy shading.
- Sketch sheet - Two to five views of a creature or character. Any number of these sketches could be utterly terrible; others may be much better. Basically a filled page of smaller sketches.
- Pre-Piece - Nearly-finished picture. The last step before inking; may not be 100% cleaned up, or totally proportional.
- Pre-pieces only come in pencil.
- Is there another sketch I've done that you think is different or special? Feel free to include a link to it when commissioning and tell me what you like about it! I'll give you a price estimate (most likely in the $8-14 range), and try to emulate it in your commission!
- Is there another style of sketch that someone else has drawn that you'd like me to try for your commission? Let me know! I'll see what I can do.
